Training/Teaching

We are a training practice.

The Surgery will be training GP Registrars who are fully qualified doctors who want to further their experience in General Practice.

The system has altered somewhat and we will now have one doctor who will stay with the Practice for approximately one year; and another doctor who will carry out a shorter training period earlier in the year which will last for 4 months.  The doctor doing the four month period will then, later in the year, become the doctor who does the year long training and a new one will come into the four month slot.  This cycle will continue year on year.

In addition, the Practice will, from time to time, train final year medical students from Imperial College London. These students join us for about 3 weeks, and will normally sit in on consultations. You will be asked if you have any objections beforehand; please say if you would rather they were not in the room. They will also do their own consulting, under the guidance of the other doctors and at the practice doctor’s discretion.

Occasionally the consultation may be videoed but your written permission will always be sought before this happens.

We hope you will be happy to help in this training – these students will be the GP’s of tomorrow!
