Change of Online Prescription Service   If you use the online prescription service, you need to come into the Surgery to register for a new password - please bring along photo ID to do this. 


WE ARE A YELLOW FEVER CENTRE! You do not have to be registered with us to access this service. However, if you are not, you will be required to complete a form with basic information, before we can book an appointment.


Travel Clinic
We can provide a full Travel Health Service to ensure your health is protected when you go abroad. 


Out of Hours
We are covered by the Frimley Primary Care Services Limited, based at Frimley Park Hospital and accessed by dialling 111.


Prescriptions
There are several ways to request or collect your prescriptions. Please check under the 'Prescriptions' page.


Test Results
We are extremely busy with telephone calls for the first 2 hours of the morning - to help us please do not phone for results until after 10.00 a.m.


Home Visits
Visits should be requested, where possible, before 10.00 a.m.  They are made only at the doctor's discretion.  Please ensure you leave a contact number and address when phoning, as the doctor is likely to phone you before making the home visit.

CORONAVIRUS

IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE READ

 

The NHS and Public Health England (PHE) are extremely well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.

 

The risk to the general public is moderate. If you have arrived back to the UK from mainland China, Thailand, Japan, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia or Macau within 14 days, follow the specific advice for returning travellers.

 

Anyone who has travelled to China or places listed above in the last 14 days and develops symptoms of cough or fever or shortness of breath, should immediately:

 

  • Stay indoors and avoid contact with other people as you would with the flu
  • Call NHS 111 to inform them of your recent travel to the country

Like the common cold, coronavirus infection usually occurs through close contact with a person with novel coronavirus via cough and sneezes or hand contact. A person can also be infected by touching contaminated surfaces if they do not wash their hands.

 

The risk of being in close contact with a person with coronavirus or contaminated surfaces is very low at the current time, as members of the public who have visited Wuhan, Hubei province, China are currently in isolation.

 

Testing of suspected coronavirus cases is carried out in line with strict regulations. This means that suspected cases are kept in isolation, away from public areas of the hospital and returned home also in isolation. Any equipment that come into contact with suspected cases are thoroughly cleaned as appropriate. Specific guidance has also been shared with NHS staff to help safeguard them and others.  Patients can be reassured that their safety is a top priority, and are encouraged to attend all appointments as usual.

 

Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

 

  • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

Welcome to Giffard Drive Surgery Website

We pride ourselves on giving a caring service to our patients whatever their age, culture or creed.

stethoscope1The Partnership consists of six experienced doctors who offer child health surveillance, maternity services, contraception and family planning and minor surgery. They are currently supported by three further doctors, including a GP registrar; two practice nurses; two Health Care Assistants; a phlebotomist; a practice business manager; an assistant practice manager; a team of dedicated receptionists and administrators; and an attached staff of health visitors, district nurses; midwives and a Carers' Support Worker, as well as three physiotherapists and two orthopaedic practitioners. The Surgery also has access to a dietitian, psychologist, counsellor and community psychiatric nurses.

Under the new contract you will be registered with the Practice but the Partners will continue to run a personal list which means you will normally see the same doctor. This, we believe, gives better continuity of care. 

We are always looking to improve our services so please let us know what you think using the feedback form on our contact page.  We hope that with your help and co-operation we will be able to make this website an effective place for all your online needs.

Patient Group

The Practice also benefits from an active Patient Group which is involved in fund-raising in order to assist in the purchase of equipment for the surgery as well as meeting regularly with the Partners and other staff in order to represent the patients in discussions over evolving systems and procedures affecting the NHS in general and Giffard Drive Surgery in particular, including through representation on the Area Patients Group which covers North East Hampshire and Farnham.  Please go to our Patient Group page for more information.

Receptionists Asking Questions When You Call to Make an Appointment

Your GP has instructed the Receptionist to ask you a number of questions when you request an appointment.  We are developing a multi-skilled team to work alongside our existing team of Doctors, Nurses and Healthcare Assistants which includes two Primary Care Practitioners (Paramedic trained) and a Musculoskeletal Practitioner.

The Receptionist will use the information you provide to safely direct you to the most appropriate clinician.  Please be assured that all of our staff are bound by the same confidentiality policy as the Doctor.   

Patient Access – a easy way to order your prescriptions online

What is Patient Access?

With Patient Access, you can view, book and cancel appointments at your local GP surgery from home, work or on the move — wherever you can connect to the internet. What is more, because Patient Access is a 24 hour online service you can do this in your own time, day or night.

 

Plus, Patient Access is not just for booking GP appointments, you can also:

    • Order repeat prescriptions.
    • Change your address details.
    • View part of your medical records

 

In order to access this service, you will need to provide photo ID at reception at Giffard Drive Surgery.

 

How do I register?

 

When you request to use Patient Access, we will provide you with an access code after you have shown us your photo ID. Once you have the access code, you can register using the Patient Access icon below.

 

Is my information secure?

 

All information that is sent to your surgery via Patient Access is secure. Your personal details are encrypted and protected using the highest standard internet security, so it cannot be intercepted. Only you and your GP surgery are able to see this information.
