Carers

If you are a carer, please complete the form below.

A carer is anyone, including children and adults who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid.

It can be difficult for carers to see their caring role as separate from the relationship they have with the person for whom they care, whether that relationship is as a parent, child, sibling, partner, or a friend.

It’s likely that every one of us will have caring responsibilities at some time in our lives with the challenges faced by carers taking many forms. Many carers juggle their caring responsibilities with work, study and other family commitments.

At Giffard Drive Surgery we try to support our patients who are caring for someone. Our Carers co-ordinator, Jane Lusted works at the surgery within the Reception Team and can be your first contact if you need to discuss anything. Please call the surgery on 01252 541282 and ask to speak with Jane.

We work closely with local carer support charities including The Princess Royal Trust for Carers and Andover Mind.

It’s important that everyone who works here at Giffard Drive Surgery knows you are a carer so that we can offer you help and support if you need it. Anyone who looks after a friend or family member who cannot manage without them, and is unpaid, can register. This includes carers under the age of 18.
